Happy Earth Day

Earth Day is a wonderful celebration of our beautiful planet Earth and all it has to offer. It is also a day to remind ourselves that even the smallest efforts can lead to big changes on our planet.

Today I took a moment to reflect by touring my outdoor space surrounding my home and  capturing images of the different spring growth occurring.

One of the pictures that is pretty funny is the little tree planted over by our fireplace. It was our Christmas tree two years ago and we replanted it. The climate isn’t right and the poor thing isn’t sure what to do but it is green and still growing!

Dandelion, you’re a pretty little weed

Dan – de – lion ¬†– french to english translation is teeth of a lion. A notorious weed that is fierce in its ability to survive and pollinate and can withstand tough and harsh conditions. It is a pesky weed but isn’t it a pretty one?

Medicinally it is used to treat infections and cure ailments of the liver. It is also has culinary value and is used in salads, wines and even as a type of coffee.

Folklore says that blowing the seeds off a dandelion carries your thoughts and dreams to your loved one.

Recycled shoe

I had fun recycling one of my old TOMS shoes today. My toe nail had worn through the fabric and I was starting to get a leak on the sole. The fabric worked great as fill for these lovely succulents in these seed pods. I also made a few fabric flowers here and there. This was only one shoe! I’m saving the other shoe for another cool project:)
